Lydia and Michael were married the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day and what an amazing celebration it was! The day started with a nuptial Mass at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida with a reception following at Marywood Retreat Center on the beautiful St. Johns River.
Lydia’s vision for her wedding day was a design using golds, greens, and white which complimented the holiday decor beautifully! Lydia looked absolutely stunning in her ball gown and Michael and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxes. She chose gold sequined dresses for the bridesmaids which were the perfect touch of sparkle!
It rained off and on after their ceremony so we were able to use the gorgeous covered area in front of the church for pictures. They also really wanted portraits on the property at Marywood, and they didn’t let the rain slow them down one bit! They embraced it and had fun, and those pictures are some of my favorites!
After cocktail hour it was time to introduce the bridal party and first dances. During the reception I always enjoy first dances because they are filled with so much emotion. I loved seeing each of Lydia’s younger brothers take a turn dancing with her. It was so sweet! Next, during speeches, you could see how much love and respect Lydia and Michael’s siblings have for them as they toasted the couple. There were also a few good laughs as each of Lydia’s siblings and parents gave their advice about Lydia to Michael! The rest of the evening was filled with fun and dancing until it was time for family and friends to send the bride and groom off with a sparkler exit!
So many people came to celebrate this sweet couple and it’s easy to see why. They are adorable and so much fun to be around! From their engagement session at Silver Springs, throughout wedding planning, to a perfect wedding day, it has been a joy getting to know Lydia and Michael and I can’t wait to see what plans God has in store for them.
All weddings are special but this one was extra special for me because this was the second wedding that I photographed for this family! One of the best things about what I do are the wonderful people I get to meet. To be invited back for another wedding meant the world to me and it was so much fun to celebrate another special day with them!
